To keep your apparel looking great, there are a few simple steps you can take.
- Machine wash cold, inside out, gentle cycle with mild detergent and similar colors.
- Tumble dry low, or hang-dry for longest life. Cool iron inside-out if necessary. Do not iron decoration. Do not dry clean.
- Use non-chlorine bleach, only when necessary. No fabric softeners.
Keep in mind that the original manufacturer’s care instructions don’t take into consideration the the printing process so the above instructions may differ from the care instructions on the shirt’s tag.
Any garment listed as pre-shrunk can still shrink 5-10% more. Washing in cold water and using a low heat or hanging to dry will minimize any additional shrinkage.
Ring-spun cotton vs. Regular cotton
Ring-spun cotton goes through a completely different manufacturing process than regular cotton. The cotton is straightened and spun which results in a thinner and softer garment than regular 100% cotton tees. This process also makes them more durable. They have a higher-end feel and do not shrink as much as your average 100% cotton shirt.
Our shirts are printed using a Direct To Garment Method. DTG printing is done by a printer that directly applies the ink onto the fabric with inkjet technology. Similar to printing on paper, except on apparel. DTG uses specialty water-based inks, which are absorbed by the fibers of the garment. Because the ink gets absorbed into the fabric, the thickness of the garment has an effect on the overall print look. For example, a t-shirt will have a more opaque print and a thick cotton hoodie will have a more vintage/faded look since the ink sinks deeper. DTG prints feel more like they are part of the shirt in contrast to a screen printed shirt where the print sits on top of the shirt and you can feel the texture. DTG shirts are just as durable as screen printed shirts when it comes to washability.
